Once we have a rigid way of thinking, it’s very hard for us to abandon a current work practice. We’ve convinced ourselves that we’ve always done it this way, so it must be good. The routines seem deeply embedded and firmly ingrained. They are hardly ever questioned. We’re blind to it. In which way can we take a picture of our performance with fresh eyes?
An untouched work process like that is a gold mine for improvement. Unfortunately, because of all the process noise, the voice of the customer becomes impossible to hear. We need to simplify our process and create pipelines for rapid delivery of business services. Value that matters to our clients. We can’t think our way into a new way of acting. So it’s back to the drawing board to revise our value stream from the beginning.
